JOHNSON SPACE CENTER NASA

Midway between Downtown Galveston and Downtown Houston, the NASA’s Johnson Space Center has served as a hub of human spaceflight activity for more than half a century. It is home to the nation’s astronaut corps, the International Space Station mission operations, the Orion Program, and a host of future space developments (nasa.gov).

The Houston Galveston Metropolitan Area is the center of the North American energy industry and currently boasts an annual GDP of almost $500 billion and is the 27th largest global economy in its own right. 

 

 

THE PORT OF GALVESTON

The Port of Galveston, also called Galveston Wharves, began as a trading post in 1825. Today, the port has grown to 850 acres (3.4 km2) of port facilities. The port is located on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.  The 5th largest cruise terminal in the United States (www.portofgalveston.com).

The Port of Houston is a port in Houston, Texas, the fourth-largest city in the United States. Located a few hours sailing time from the Gulf of Mexico, it is the busiest port in the United States in terms of foreign tonnage, second-busiest in the United States in terms of overall tonnage, and thirteenth-busiest in the world.
